Chemo - Round Four

Day 1

Paula's chemo went well today. The nurse pushed the Rituxan rate up to where it would have been if there were no problems during the second round. Paula tolerated the drugs well and didn't have any problems. The higher rate shortened the total time we were in the center. Prior to the chemo she had lab work done and saw the doctor. We were home by 3:30 PM. She will go back tomorrow at 9 AM for the second dose of bendamustine which only takes about 2 hours. Laura will take Paula tomorrow.

Chris and Laura were with Paula most of the time today as well. It made for a cozy infusion area. Chris came home for Father's Day and left about 4 PM to return to Seattle. We had a good weekend.

Based on talking with the doctor today he doesn't plan to do a bone marrow biopsy until after the sixth round of chemo in August. Probably in early September. Paula's schedule for the next treatments follows:

July 18 9:15 AM Infusion
July 19 9:00 AM Infusion

Aug 15 9:15 AM Infusion
Aug 15 9:00 AM Infusion

She has a similar schedule for September 12 and 13, but would be dependent on the biopsy results.

Day 2

I (Laura) had the privilege of joining mom today (dad entrusted me with the note taking) and she did super well! Got there at about 9am and were done at about 11am. The nurse felt she didn't need the Benadryl today, so she got to bypass the drowsy/groggy feeling. She even played a little guitar/piano on the iPad, so all in all things went smoothly.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!
